What is CWT (Hundredweight) Pricing?
In Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) shipping, standard base tariffs (such as CzarLite or carrier baseline rates) are calculated per hundredweight (CWT = 100 lbs) indexed to the NMFTA Freight Classification . The higher the freight class, the higher the rate per CWT.
Absolute Minimum Charge (AMC)
Every carrier enforces a floor charge (typically $115 to $215 depending on mileage and lane density). If your calculated CWT freight equals $80, the carrier will still bill the Absolute Minimum Charge (AMC) to cover terminal handling overhead.
