What is Ti-Hi in Warehouse Palletization?
In freight forwarding and logistics warehousing, Ti-Hi (or Tie / High) is the industry-standard measurement for defining how cartons are stacked on a pallet:
Ti (Tier / Tie) — Boxes Per Layer
The number of cartons or boxes that fit flat on a single layer (tier) of the pallet surface without exceeding the allowable edge overhang.
Hi (High) — Number of Layers
The number of layers or tiers stacked vertically on the pallet base. Multiplied together, Ti × Hi = Total Boxes per Pallet.

Amazon FBA Pallet Requirements & Compliance 2026
Failing to adhere to Amazon FBA palletizing requirements will result in non-compliance inbound defect fees and potential dock rejection:
Total height from floor to top of load must not exceed 72 inches (including wooden skid), unless approved for clamp trucks.
Total gross weight must not exceed 1,500 lbs per pallet. Heavy cargo requires split shipments.
No portion of any carton may extend past the edge of the wooden pallet. Flush loading is mandatory.
Must use clear plastic stretch wrap. Must wrap around the pallet base at least 3 turns to anchor the cargo securely.

How does the calculator determine the best box layout?
Our algorithm calculates multiple stacking patterns: lengthwise uniform, widthwise turned, and interlocking hybrid row/column splits. It selects the pattern that yields the highest box count (Ti) while maximizing surface area utilization and minimizing pallet edge overhang.
Should I use Column Stacking or Interlocking Brick Stacking?
Column Stacking (aligning box corners directly above each other) provides up to 40% higher compression strength against box crushing. Interlocking Stacking (brick layer rotation) provides superior lateral stability during truck transit. For heavier cartons, column stacking with corner protectors and tight stretch wrap is recommended.
How many standard 48x40 pallets fit on a 53-foot trailer?
A standard 53ft Dry Van trailer accommodates 26 standard GMA 48" × 40" pallets in a single-stacked straight configuration (2 rows of 13 pallets). If pallets are double-stackable (under ~52 inches high each) and within the 45,000 lbs payload limit, the trailer can hold up to 52 pallets.
